Thank you for coming to my website to learn more about me. I work in South Carolina as an Academic Librarian and I enjoy creating art. As a librarian, I teach, answer reference questions, manage several different social media accounts, make library displays, cultivate the English literature section/ African American Studies section and much more. I am happy to say that I am really working at my dream job.

A dear friend suggested that I use the twitter handle “Sketchlibrarian” and I guess it just stuck. I have been drawing or doodling for most of my life. When I was in college, I was discouraged against pursuing art as a career so I ended up pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in English Studies from Lander University instead. Later on, I continued my education at the University of South Carolina for a Master’s in Library and Information Science. In the fall of 2016, I mustered up the courage to take another shot at an art class but this time as an adult. I enjoyed it a lot and you can see what I created by visiting my instagram page. I plan to continue taking classes for as long as I can.

In 2014, Sketch-a-quote became such a happy addition to my life. I worked very hard at it and still do quotes from time to time. As it comes to art, I am glad I finally put the puzzle pieces together. My art is a creation of joy and happiness and can even serve as a way to keep my mind from negativity. You can see this through viewing my Positivity Book. These positive quotes really keep me going when the world and life seem very dark. I created a dedicated tab on this website for all my art. Please feel free to take a look.

At the beginning of 2017, I started working Library Cards Catalog. This is an on-going art project that asks libraries around the globe to submit their library cards to be cataloged online. You may visit and submit your own card by viewing this link.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions. You can also follow me on most social media sites by searching for @sketchlibrarian.
